Catherine Neville, Duchess of Norfolk, daughter of Ralph Neville, Earl of
Westmoreland & Joan Beaufort, married Thomas Strangeways abt. 1423. Does
anyone know anything about this Strangeways line ? I have Thomas' parents as
Robert Strangeways and Matilda Cheswyk, but I have no information on their
origins or ancestry. Can anyone help ?

Collectanea Topographica et Genealogica 2:100-101 gives father as Henry.

The Genealogist ns 20: 181-2, "Dugdale's Visitation of Yorkshire,"
'Strangways of South-House also gives Henry.

Moriarty's Notebook 19:32 [MS Coll. NEHGS, Boston] gives the following:

1. Henry 1385 of Salford; b. ca 1369; d ca. 1399-1429.
2. John of Salford 1346; b. ca. 1325; d. after 1385. PROBABLE son
3. Alice seen 1377.
4. Thomas of Salford 1346; b. ca. 1300.
5. Alice seen 1328.
8. Geoffrey, 1301-17; d. before 1346.
9. Sibel.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for the information. You have been most helpful, especially with
the sources. There are others besides myself that are interested in this
material. I am very impressed by the high standards the people in this
newsgroup adhere to and I appreciate the willingness of you and others that
pass on their knowledge.
