Thanks for the post on Robertsons. It sparked my interest, particularly at
the end when you mentioned the Clan Donnachaidh, as I am supposed to have
an ancester who came from Atholl, Perth, Scotland in the 17th century, and
was indentured to a family, I believe, in Connecticut. He was a Daniel
Robinson (Robertson), and the name became later shorted to Rob(b)ins, and
he married
one Hope Potter in New Haven, Conn.
He was born 1627, near Blair Atholl, Perth, Scotland, father
Richard, mother Mary, and he married Hope Potter 10 Feb 1663 (he father
being John Potter, executed for beastiality!)
Don't know if this connects, but I wish had more to offer. Good luck,
Ralph Holloway

I subscribed to this site a few months ago. I tried to get information by
forwarding what I was told was our lineage. It supposedly dated back
to Bigod. I admit it, I don't know if this is true but I had hoped to get
some feedback either helping me or showing me where I was wrong.
Instead I received a rather sarcastic message implying I was wrong
but minus corrections. Like the comments of another researcher, I
receive several GEN-MEDIEVAL lists each week covering topics that
are of little interest to me but I am hanging in there - hoping that I
will see something or that someone in Scotland will be able to help me.
Again, I have added what I am told is our Scottish lineage. Please,
if you must criticize have the courtesy of telling me how or where I
am wrong.

If the line in Douglas's *Baronage*, vol. i, pages 413 and 407 is
correct, this William Robertson, 4th of Muirton, was a great-great-
grandson of Alexander Robertson and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of
John Stewart, 1st Earl of Atholl and granddaughter of Joan Beaufort,
Queen of Scotland. From there to Roger Bigod is easy to trace.
