While Adelbert's son came to be Count of Burgundy, he was the first of
the family to hold that title, or reside in that area. Amadeus was
italian, nor burgundian. In addition, Amadeaus was not (as would appear
to be suggested here) son of Engeltrude and Hunroch (likewise, I have my
doubts that Engeltrude was daughter of Bego, or else we would have
terribly close cousins marrying in Eberhard and Gisele).

Haithabu should never be used. It brings back too many bad memories of
what is perhaps Schwennicke's greatest mistake. Besides, (Stewart has,
I think, addressed this before) it is far from certain that the Godefrid
of Friesland who may have been father of Regenhilde (Moriarty suggested
she was instead kinswoman of the Holland dynasty) was the same as the
Godefrid who married Lothar's daughter (who most sources show as being
childless).

Not that I want to go into this again, but there is no contemporary
evidence to suggest that Hedwige, wife of Otto of Saxony was daughter of
Arnulf, King of Germany. THis relationship was likely a legitimist
invention to justify Henry I (NOT Emperor, but only) King of Germany
taking the thrown.

Weis 48:18, to which you refer, gives no parentage for "Aelis", wife
of Robert I and mother of Liegarde/Hildebrante. Neither does ES ii, 10.
Moriarty, p. 9, gives the name "Beatrice", with no origins. Settipani in
"La prehistoire des Capetiens," p. 406, gives her no name or origin.
It is Stuart in "Royalty for Commoners", line 259, who makes the wife
of Robert I a daughter of Louis I "the Pious" and Ermengarde of Hesbaye.
(Notice that Stuart refers to Moriarty p. 9.) However Louis "the Pious"
and Ermengarde have no such daughter shown in ES i, 2, or in Settipani,
op. cit., pp. 255-256.
I do not see how we can say anything about the origins of the wife of
Robert I from these sources.

Vajay has suggested that she was daughter of Louis the German. This
appears to have been based solely on the name Emma (Louis's wife,
Robert's daughter), and thus doesn't carry much weight. Most reliable
sources leave her parentage unassigned.

I really would be eternally grateful for a translation, in case there's
anything I crucially need to know in the above.
Maybe it would be best if the first person who can translate lets the list
know, as I believe there are probably many of you who can read Latin, and
there's no point in a dozen experts individually translating the above for
me.
Thanks,
Michelle Murphy
