Can anyone point out a reliable account of the family of St. Barbe, of
South Brent, Somersetshire who later came into possession of Ashington,
Somerset? I am aware of the account in Burke's Commoners, 2: 447.

Richard St. Barbe = Matilda
He, his wife and children are named in a Somerset fine of 1316/7.

Sir John St. Barbe = Mary Langelonde (Longlande). Through her mother,
their son Richard St. Barbe inherited the Furneaux manor of Ashington,
Somersetshire.

Isabel St. Barbe = Sir William Stradling (died 1406/7), of St. Donats'
Castle, Wales

Ref: The History and Antiquities of the County of Somerset, by Collinson
(1791), 3: 213; Somersetshire Record Society, 12: 65; Visitation of
Somersetshire in 1623: 74

Many thanks,

Ronny
