Dear Genners

I have been on Jewishgen for many years and made good use of the
magnificent JRI Poland database many times.

However, I have never been able to find my own father's birth
information.

I have looked it up using as many tricks as I can imagine, but
without luck.

Maybe someone is smarter?

Given name Uri / Yre / Ire

Surname Schechter / Schachter / Shechter

Place of birth Brzozdowce, Galizia (where the family lived for a while)

Place of residence Rohatyn, Galitzia (where my grandparents came from).

Alternate place: Brzezany, Galitzia (where older siblings=C2=B4 births were
registered)

Date of birth Oct. 1st, 1906

Son of Moshe David Schechter and Sara Schorr.

Any help will be much apreciated!

Alberto mentioned both JewishGen and JRI-Poland in the first sentence of
his message. Some of the readers of this discussion forum might think
that these two genealogical organizations are the same or affiliated
organizations. JRI-Poland is not affiliated with JewishGen. JRI-Poland
is a totally independent non-profit organization with separate
volunteers and fundraising. While JRI-Poland allows its data to be
displayed on JewishGen, that data clearly originates with JRI-Poland.

The records that Alberto mentions have all been indexed by JRI-Poland
with the support of many volunteers and contributors.

The JRI-Poland online database includes index entries of vital records
for Brzezany including four children of Moses Dawid SCHECHTER and Sara
SCHORR born between 1896 and 1902. The Brzezany records after 1902 do
not record any more births for this couple.

As Alberto mentions, his father's family also lived in Brzozdowce.
Unfortunately the Jewish vital records of Brzozdowce have not survived.
I think this explains why Alberto has not been able to find the birth
record of his father.

Thanks to the nice genners that sent me good ideas on better
reasearching this and other databases. I have thanked them privately.

Let me thank specially Stanley Diamond and Mark Halpern for their
input. I have known these two persons through email for a couple of
decades (yes, this discussion group is old) and both have been helpful
and kind in every occasion.

By the way, my mail's title might lead to confusion. I have noticed
that JRI-Poland is a totally independent non-profit organization with
separate volunteers and fundraising from Jewishgen.

While JRI-Poland allows its data to be displayed on JewishGen, that
data originates with JRI-Poland.

The records for my late father Uri SCHECHTER or his young siblings
have not been unearthed yet.

I will be writing their names in the tag lines in the hope info
appears in the future.
