I will be in Savannah, Georgia, next week for a few days, and am reaching
out to any of you readers who are living in Savannah or are familiar with
folks from Savannah. Perhaps you know information about or are related to
an individual listed. I am searching for living descendants of the
following, all whom settled in Savannah in the latter half of the 19th
century. I will list first the names of the original immigrants, and then
any of their descendants who I believe may have stayed in Savannah.

Elias A. WEIL and Babette MEINHARD (of E. A. Weil & Co, Globe Shoe
Company). FERST (although I think most of them eventually moved to
Atlanta). Ida Weil FERST (married Aaron Ferst); children Monie, Alvin,
Frank, Mazie Rae. I believe their son Leon FERST, who married Ida
KAMINSKY, had a daughter Harriet and a son Leon Jr. who may have remained
in Savannah.

Henry A. WEIL and Leah STERN. Celia Weil LANG (married Edmund LANG), died
1959. Beulah Weil WACHTEL (married to Leo WACHTEL); their children: Dr.
Leo Wachtel Jr. and Josephine WACHTEL who married Kayton SMITH. Milton
Weil married Alma GAUSE; don't know if they had children.

Mina WEIL and Isaac FRANK (of Frank & Co.). MEINHARD and FERST. Ellen
ISEMAN married Milton EISENBERG; their children: Doris Eisenberg married
William LYNCH; Everett Eisenberg married Sandra BEASLEY. Mina's son Hugo
Frank married Rena ADLER; their children Eleanor and Hugo Frank Jr. Irene
MARSH (or MARTIN), died 1943, and Viola SOLOMON, died 1965.

Ferdinand WEIL and Helen ENGEL (of Frank & Co.). Their children eventually
moved to NY but their names were Rita Weil DAMMANN and Sylvan WEIL.

Ferdinand NEUBURGER married Nellie EHRLICH, but was divorced; don't know if
they had children. Another NEUBURGER family was Herman and Miriam/Mamie
NEUBURGER; they may be related. Their children were Max, Fannie (married
Isaac LEVY), and Louis (married Gladys). Louis and Gladys NEUBURGER had
children Phyllis, Lois, and Max. Phyllis and Lois married in the 1930's,
but I do not know to whom.

If anyone recognizes any of these names, I would be very appreciative for
any help in tracking descendants. I do plan on telephoning individuals
once I get to Savannah, but any information prior to my trip would be most
helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to read through the names,
