Dear Researchers,

Just a last week I posted an update on the Lodz Registration Cards Extraction
Project and indicated that we anticipate additional scans from the Polish State
Archives will be online in the near future.

I am delighted to advise that scans for cards with all letters of the alphabet
are now live and linked from the JRI-Poland Lodz Registration Cards webpage at:
www.jri-poland.org/psa/lodz-registration-card-scans.htm

The cards contain name of head of household and his/her occupation,
religion, birthplace and birth date and where they lived before. They also
include name of the spouse and where born, and names of children and
their birthplace and birth date. There is also an address where they live,
and changes of address are also recorded.

The JRI-Poland Lodz Registration Cards Extraction team has already
reviewed more than 21,000 scans and extracted the names, birth dates
and birth cities of nearly 20,000 Jewish residents recorded in Lodz
from 1916-1921. The resulting data will provide researchers and their
families with insight into the lives and movement of our people during
this time frame and will serve as valuable research and history of the
Polish Jews in Lodz.

While we expect to upload the first group of 20,000 names by end of
this year, with the thousands of additional scans now available, our
challenge has been magnified. We need many more volunteers to
help us expedite the project to extract the records and have them
included in our search system. Please contact Margalit Ir at
margal...@gmail.com to become part of this dynamic team.

Best wishes for a year of health and many research successes.

Shana Tova.
