Hello:

I have found several disparate family members all sharing
variations of the same last name (Penczyna, Penchina,
Penciner) who all claim to be from a town in Poland called
Klimitow/Climitov.

However, I cannot find any reference to this town in the
ShtetlSeeker database. There are towns with similar names
in Russia, but they are nowhere close to Poland, and this
town was definitely in Poland.

Any help would be much appreciated.

According to `Jewish Roots in Poland' by Miriam Weiner
there is a town listed as Klimontow in the province of
Tarnobrzeg. This province is in the south east of modern
day Poland.

The book is a must have for any genealogist researching
this part of the world - it also gives details about
acquiring certificates from Poland.

Hope this helps
