Some 10 (or more) years ago I was asked by someone in North America
(or England) to research their ancestor who had been a scribe (sofer
Sta"m) in Jerusalem during the 19th cent. and after his wife deceased
emigrated to England, where he served as a Rabbi in a small city. I
believe the scribe has descendants in Canada (among other places).

If this sounds familiar to anyone could you remind me the name of your
above ancestor?
