We also have an instance of "Wishna," or "Vishna" used as a first name
in Mogilev, Belarus. This was the daughter of one of our TALALAY
branches. Born in Mogilev in 1880s. We have not found any similar names
in the TALALAY family, and assume (so far) that this is a name from
Vishna's mother's family. We are not yet aware of a Lithuania connection
for the mother's family, and we have not found any Lithuanian connection
for the TALALAY family.
Thanks to Jerry Esterson for letting our family know it comes from the
name Yocheved!

Shelly,

Assuming that there are no connections to Krishna, Wishnia is a Polish name
[wisnia] for the sour cherry, from which a famous wishniak (wiszniak) liquor
is made.
