This name is not listed in Maurice Eithenbeth's "Les Juifs de l'Afrique du
Nord, demographie et onomastique" (Jews of Northern Africa, demography and
onomastics).
3 names could be near :
BENNADI : from Addi (Ouaddi) a Berber name for a tribe, added with
filiation Ben.
BENHINI or BENHENI: african form for Hannoun (merciful) added with the
filiation Ben.
BENANICHE: from Ouaniche, the Berber name for a tribe, added with filiation
Ben.
All these names are mostly found in Algeria and especially in Oran.

There is a Benamy family in Atlanta, Georgia and I believe they are Sefardic
