David Jacob's reference to Sir Moses Montefiore provokes a memory of ome
of his good deeds.

Sir Moses was a friend of Dr. Thomas Hodgkin after whom Hodgkin's
disease was named. Hodgkin was not only a great physician but also a
humanitarian who went to Palestine in 1866 to help in a cholera
epidemic. He died and is buried in an obscure and neglected old English
cemetery outside of Haifa. Sir Moses caused a monument to be created to
mark his grave. The stone is engraved from Sir Moses.

If anyone ever visits the site there is much vegetation to be cleared.
