In doing research on my family I have the following questions which I hope
others might be able to help with.

1. Up until an interview with an aging aunt, my family was under the
impression that my grandmother's name was Ruth DIENSTOCK. This aunt tells
me that her name was Ruth GOLDBERG. The family is from Mielec, Poland. We
know nothing else about her, including which name is the correct name. She
married a Joseph RECHT. Does anyone have any information or are you
researching the GOLDBERG family from Mielec? My aunt said repeatedly that
she came from the best family in the area. I don't know what that actually
means, though.

2. There are no films that I can find at the LDS FHL in SLC on Mielec,
Poland. According to the librarian there, they haven't been filmed yet.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to find out information on Mielec? We
know there are Yizkor books written on the Mielec, but the only one which we
have actually seen is "Remembering Mielec" and it does not list any RECHTs
in it, although we understand the family to have been there for generations.

3. Another branch of the family, Barney and Emma GORDON, came and
settled in Brotsmanville, NJ. I just received a letter from the state of
New Jersey stating that there is no marriage record for Max (Minasha) RECHT
and Lizzie (Elizabeth) GORDON (1907), nor are there any birth records for
Lizzie (1888). Since there is little dispute that all of the children of
Barney and Emma GORDON were born in that area, we have come to the
conclusion that the records were probably kept at the synagogue. We have a
platt map of Brotsmanville around the turn of the century showing where the
Gordon's lived along with locations of other families, businesses, and the
synagogue. Is there anyone in that area who would know if the synagogue is
still standing, or what happened to the records? We also understand that a
book was recently published on Brotsmanville and was written up in some of
the local papers. We would be interested in finding a way to purchase the
book, but are not sure of the title or ISBN #. (This information came to us
by word of mouth.)

I appreciate any help which I might get from all of you.
