Best wishes,
Peggy, Russellville, Arkansas, USA
This Pasquale was from Torre la Nocche in Avelino. Suspect he was born
around 1880. Came to US TWICE. I know the last time he came to US was around
1903-1906. That's about all I know other then he left his wife and children
(my father) and went back to Italy!
If you have any other info, I'd appreciate it. I'll check the web site and
see what you saw. Thanks.

>This Pasquale was from Torre la Nocche in Avelino.
The real name for the place is Torre le Nocelle, you can find its
homepage here:
http://digilander.libero.it/etniko/torre_le_nocelle/
Address of the Town Council:
MUNICIPIO
VIA BENIAMINO ROTONDI, 1
83030 TORRE LE NOCELLE (AV)
Its telephone number:
0825969035
You should try and ask them for information about a Pasquale Capone
who was born there in the years you mentioned. Look out for cousins
and relatives, who often shared the same names.
You could also ask to local priests to look in the baptisms registers
if they can find your relative's name (they probably will). I don't
know the address or phone number of the churches in Torre le Nocelle,
though.
On ellisisland.org there is a mention of a Pasquale Capone, arriving
in the US on February 23rd, 1899, at the age of 25, and single. That'd
have him born on 1873-1874. Could it be your relative ?
Once you found him, yopu may also want email the State Archive in
Avellino, who has the Atti dello stato civile for Torre le Nocelle,
from 1809 till 1865, which probably contain all the information about
his parents and gran-parents.

If he was back to Torre le Nocelle, you may want to try and write or
phone to the living Capone in there. There are 17 of them. Here are

I contacted a person from Torre le Nocelle who has a homepage on the
Internet. Here's his answer. I found it quite interesting:
ITALIAN
Ti sembrerà strano.... ma se è quel Pasquale Capone che dico io se lo
ricordano in parecchi ancora qui.
Fallo mettere in contatto con me....
Qui dovrebbe avere ancora dei parenti

You'll probably find it strange.... but if he the Pasquale Capone I
think, well, there is a lot of people who still remember him.
The 'Capone' last name is a common one, but this particular person I'm
talking about is well known for a series of stories and because he was
one of the first presidents of the Torrese Workers' Circle. This
circle was founded with the financial aid of some Bostonian emigrants.
Have him contact me. He should still have some relatives here.
Well, I really really hope that's the same person.
Let me know if he is,
Ciao

I don't have any specific information on Pasquale CAPONE, but Carlevale's book
of Mass. Italian-American Biographies has 4 entries of CAPONES from Torre le
Nocelle: Alfred, Anthony, Amerigo and Fred. They settled in Revere, Chelsea and
Everett Mass. Contact me off-list if you are interested in the complete
listings.
Also have 4 CAPONES from Montemiletto, Avellino and 1 from Turi, Bari.
Ciao, Jim,
I realize the Capone's you're researching come from Torre Le Nocelle;
however, you may also want to investigate Capone's from Montemiletto.
The two villages (well, actually, Montemiletto is now a "town") sit
side-by-side on the mountain and are so closely related that families
often spread from one village to the other. It also fits that Peggy
found 3 Pasquale Capone's in Boston. Many, many immigrants from
Montemiletto/Torre le Nocelle found their way to the Boston area. In
fact, many of my own family members settled there (some of whom
include Capone's). Have you visited the Family History Center (Church
of the Latter Day Saints) in your area? I found them to be a gold
mine of information. You do not have to be a church member to use
their facilities. I have accumulated more information than I could
possibly relay to you in this message via their resources. In fact,
copies of documents I now have in my possession came from the Family
History Center. And, my biggest thrill was to be able to view the
originals when I visited Montemiletto a couple years ago. If you would
like to contact me, you can send an email to tchi...@yahoo.com

I have found lots of data on that name. Go to this website ITALY GENEALOGY SURNAME NAVIGATOR and click on Italy then type in your lastname of interest. Leave all the check active. Many sites will appear and on top of each other also at times 2 error messages just click ok and they go away. Now work backwards throuh the sites be patient as some take a little time to come up. There at least 250 in the Italian phone book. Ancestry.com has tons and there are others. The last 2 sites have the most data over 600+ and you can click on each of them and there is more data in the background. However I am not sure if they are any of your Capone family. Also go to my family website http://www.dellarocchetta.com/ and on the favorite links page we have lots of reseach tools. Remmeber the best data today comes from the Mormon Church records and most of the data on the internet comes from their Family History Library [FHL]. So the best approach to take is talk to the living and the older they are the better aunts uncle cousins family friends etc. Then go to your FHL and they are world wide and ask for help to get started they have volunteers to help you. About 90 % of my data has come from the FHL. For people that died in the US death certificates are available for 5 dollars if you know the month and year they died. If not a 10 year search cost 25dollars.
Ciao I hope this helps you. If you ever need help email and if a can I will help no charge of course.

There were at least enough to form a club. I have come across references to the
Circolo Operaio Torrese of Boston. I don't know else anything about it. Wish
someone would research the old Italian clubs to see if they might be a source
of useful genealogical information.

Thanks for the information Antonia. I didn't know this.
There are lots of Capone's on Montemiletto's phone directory.
