Corleone was / is the county seat / location of government offices for the
region.)

A handwritten note: Spresa Giorno 20. Luchero 30.

Two questions: the passport has never been stamped, and the port of arrival
is listed. Is this a single use passport? Is the other half in Italy (I've
heard that at one time they were in two parts).

Thank you for any and all help.

(a signature I think) IL Sotto prefetto

"IL SOTTOPREFETTO."

The Under-Prefect, the title of the officer issuing the passport.

The Prefetto is the Police Department for the area. This Office issued the
passports. In English we would probably say The Under-Sheriff.

QUESTURA DI CORLEONe
POLICE DEPARTMENT OF CORLEONE,

The Italian passport was issued to permit the person to *leave* Italy. With
the exception of a brief period during WWI, a passport was not required to
enter the US until the 1940s. Thus, there would be no reason for any US
official
to 'stamp' the passport.

Passports are and were issued by the Provincial questura, the local police.

There may be a copy of the document in Italy, but it will not provide you with
any more information
of genealogical value than what you already have.
