Hi all,
I volunteer with a local library Ancestry group and I'm currently working with a lady who is researching her Irish relatives. We've successfully traced her father's family but limited success with her mother's. Unfortunately we've now hit a bit of a brick wall and neither of us has any experience of working with Irish records!
What we know so far...
Her mother, Margaret Purtill/Purtell, married William Commane at Clare Abbey in 1942. We know from the marriage certificate that Margaret's father was Michael Purtill/Purtell. Margaret was one of at least 7 children. It's possible that her mother was Mary/Ellen/Mary Ellen McNamara, which we deduced from the Civil Record Marriage index and 1911 census. We think that the marriage between Mary and Michael may have taken place around 1900 but there is no trace of a church record for the marriage.
Grateful for any suggestions as to how we can move forward or information about the above??
Penny
