Hi Alison. Thanks for taking a look.
I tried looking on a map of Ireland for the shape of lake/lough in the
panorama pic, but couldn't find anything suitable. So I memorised the shapes
of the mountain ranges in the my pictures and started browsing through
Google images of loughs and lakes. Wasn't long before I detected a mental
match with the skyline in a Killarney view. So I closed in on Killarney pics
and bumped into the top image on
http://www.vacationkillarney.com/Jarvey.htm
which is a dead ringer (minus the slightly cheesy jarveys) for the 2nd
picture down on my web page. The Gap of Dunloe picture was soon matched via
Google images too, so that clinched it.
Having said that, Killarney being such a tourist destination probably means
my parents chose it just for a nice holiday, and not for knocking on distant
relatives' doors, so I suspect I'm still no closer to an Irish connection.
Nice to be able to put some captions on the family pictures though.
