1911 Letter to Santa

On the front page of today's Irish Times: a letter to Santa written in 1911
was found on a ledge in the chimney of a house in Oaklands Terrace,
Terenure, Dublin.
It's in remarkably good condition. It's signed "A or H Howard" (with the
"or"). According to the 1911 census, there were 3 children there: Hannah,
Fred, and Lily Howard. The Howard family were all born in England, including
parents Fred Hamer Howard (an under-manager in a plumber merchants) and Mary
Elizabeth Howard.
There must be some direct descendants somewhere who would love to get a copy
of that letter. Ironically, it would make a fantastic 2011 Christmas present
for a genealogist somewhere.

Presumably Hannah's name was pronounced " 'annah" so she was unsure whether
she was A or H. Sweet!

toffee apple and a gold penny and a silver sixpence and a long toffee."
So seven presents in all - albeit fairly modest ones by today's standards
(except possibly the gold penny, and I'm not sure about the 'long toffee'?)
And all nicely decorated with Good Luck wishes.

The paper had assumed "A or H" was "Alfred (her brother) or Hannah", even
though the letter was asking for a baby doll and it said "or" rather than
"and". The son of Hannah (in Co. Down) had come forward and confirmed that
his mother also went by the name of Anna or Annie and that it was probably
an insurance in case Santa got confused.
No mention of the current owner giving it to the family. That would be a
nice touch - a 10 year old girl sending a Christmas present to her future
son 100 years later [I think they must be putting something in my coffee
here]
