Hi, i'm from Portugal, i'm not used to research genealogical records in Ireland, and I need a little help about a irish priest that came to Portugal in the XVII century.
I don't know exactly when he came to Portugal, but I believe in 1630 decade, perhaps, one of many young irish that came to the Iberian peninsula folowing the arrival of father Dominic O'Daly.
Is name in portuguese is Patricio Valois, but I think his real name was Patrick Valois ou Velois, I know for sure that he request in 1655 a naturalization citizenship that was granted by the King John IV of Portugal.
He was a student at Évora University, with a master in Arts and Theology.
He established, after is studying days in small parish, Saint Peter of Gafanhoeira, near the village of Arraiolos, when he dies in 16-8-1674, and is buried in only epigraphic tombstone at that church.
I would like to know if anyone could know something about this priest, his family in Ireland, eventually, any help is welcome.
Thank you very much.
