No, they aren´t. Gustavus = Gustav, Augustus = August.

No.

Gustaf is Swedish, deriving from "göt" =god and "staf" =staff, support.

Augustus is a Latin adjective =honourable, and became a by-name for emperor
Gajus Julius Caesar Octavianus, the one reigning during the birth of Jesus
Christ, and thus famous from the Christmas story.
