I am trying to find out where the city of Pummer in Prussia was.
Which modern city is there now. I am visiting germany in April and
hope to further my geneology research there.

Thank you...

What year? At one time, even what is now Western Germany was part of Prussia.

"Pummer" almost certainly means Pommern, which is Pomerania, a province of
Prussia. There is a place called Pummerhof, population 28, in Bavaria,
but that is not in Prussia, and I would go with the odds that your
ancestor came from the area with millions of people rather than the one
which had only 28 total.

Also, if they came to an area of the U.S. such as Wisconsin, Minnesota, or
Michigan, it would be quite likely that they were from Pomerania.

David,

It would have been near 1850.
