Hello Listers, today I tried to use the site (_www.teleauskunft.de_
(http://www.teleauskunft.de) ) and I cannot open it in English. I entered the name and
city, and I get a message in German that I do not understand. Can someone
check the site and tell me if I did something wrong?
Thank you, Alan Rossing, Monterey, California, USA

That appears to be the website and not you as the English, French,
Turkish language options are greyed out on mine (MSIE) also. Clearing
cookies & cache were of no help. The German message could be translated
if you tell us what it said.

Hi Alan,

Have had the same problem myself. If you click on English, it essentially
says that that feature will be added soon. The same for other languages.

I guess they are making changes to the site. I had been able to get the old
site for awhile, even after this other site formation, but looks like no
longer.

Just do you search by putting surname in Name/Begriff slot, and town in Ort
slot.

Good luck.

They should switch to the new site, when it is completely ready!

Ja richtig und danke. Ich kann das verstehen aber - I thought he was
using the German screen because he couldn't get English and was getting
some German message after entering into the name & city fields. I see
how it could be taken either way.

I just tried to do a partial postal code search for a name and the program
did not like it. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Are you able to do it,
Henning? This was very easy to do, and quite an advantage at the old site.

Although I'm not Henning, here's what I learned (I use that site or
www.dastelefonbuch.de at business)

chose >profimodus<
enter a name at >/Name/Suchbegriff<
enter partial postal code and add * at >Postleitzahl<
click the >Finden< - bottom

A new list with checkboxes for all places with this (partial) postal-code
will show up.
mark checkboxes if you want to

click >In allen Orten finden< for searching all listed places or
click >In markierten Orten finden< for searching only the marked places.

Well, it does not work just fine for me. Search PLZ 9* does not work,
because there is a minimum requirement of 2 characters. That is not too
bad. But then when I search in all places, it tells me that there are too
many places in the list and to limit my places.

If I know a name was from Bavaria, then I can run through the 8s and 9s
first two digits at a time, which is a big incontinence, but doable.
However, not being able to run all places because there are too many places,
is just too much to endure. I would have to really, really want to find the
distribution of some name.

Looks like that is true, Mike. Even the old site had similar situations,
depending on the postal code coverage you were searching. Would like to
help you if I could. What surname(s) are you searching, and do you have an
idea of a town at all, as opposed to just Bavaria? Or do you have some
other sort of project in mind?

We learn something new every day, if we can just find the right teacher!
Thanks Mathias.
