Hello,

I have information that my Granpa's family were from Weiden in der
Oberpfalz (probably they've lived there at the begining of 20th
century).
This is my only spoor. I don't know anything else.

Maybe is on this forum Somebody who name is Wickl and who could check
this information for me (cemetery, parish books etc.).
It's very important for me.

Thank You very much for any support.

Best regards

Greg

Germany telephone directory at http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/ has no listings
of Wickl in Weiden in der Oberpfalz. But, there are 3 listings within 35 km
of Weiden. They are in Schnaittenbach (18.8 km), Tirschenreuth (25.7 km),
and Kuemmersbruck (34.9 km).

Maybe some of these are distant relatives that you can write or call for
information about your family. Have been in that area many times, when
visiting distant cousins in Amberg.

Good luck.

Hello Joe,

Thank You very much for Your support.
I'll try to contact with Wickl families from Schnaittenbach,
Tirschenreuth and Kuemmersbruck.

I feel that it would be difficult because of lack of contact since I
think 1940-45.

Best regards
Greg

Greg,

Well, we made contact with distant relatives in Germany in 1992, by using
some old letters from Germany in 1888-1932 time period. Have enjoyed many
Kaffee und Kuchen Sunday afternoon getogethers in Bavaria since then. Give
it a go. Nothing lost but a little postage. Give them plenty of
information about your ancestors to help them make the connection.

Good luck.

Joe

Joe,

thanks.
I think that it's a very good idea.
I try to do it.
I'll send postcard with my story and I'll be waiting for reply.

Pity that I don't know German.
So, I must use my English.

Regards
Greg
