Does the surname Batzenschlager have an English translation? This is just
out of curiosity. I have no information on the individual thus named in my

There are only 5 Batzenschlager listings in the German phone book.

A browser search on the Internet for "Batzenschlager+genealogy", will get
you at least 4 hits to investigate.

Someone else may be able to help you on the meaning of the name. Batzen in
the German dictionary indicates a small silver coin, or a lump or a clod.
Used in expressions such as "he has made a nice pile", or "that cost a
pretty penny".

Schläger is a striker, or hitter, as in a game.

I would translate 'Batzenschlager' as
'a person who makes coins working in a mint'.
