Hello All,

This is an old topic on which I have not received any answer.
So, I'm sending it again.

Does anyone have any idea where the Haüslinger (Hauslinger,
Hausslinger, Haslinger, Hasslinger etc.) name originated from.

Thanks

Greg

Hello All,

Thanks

Greg

Hello,

A Häusling (or Einlieger) is a person who is not the house owner (house in
German: Haus) or a member of the house owner´s family.
A Häusling has no own house. A "Hausherr" is the owner (at least in the
region around Hannover).
I dont know if Haslinger/Hasslinger has the same meaning. Häusling is used
in Northern Germany, while Hasslinger/Haslinger is a common second name in
South Germany.
