I know that his father was the school teacher Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel,
who die in 1913, and that his mother was Helene von Luz -who died in 1940,
but I need to know the names of the two fathers from Erwin Johannes Eugen
Rommel

I got interested in this one because I have the book around here somewhere. :-)

In checking the Ancestry message boards, I found this which conflicts with what
you say:
"Erwin Rommel is descended from Hans Casper Rummel. Father of Hans Kasper is
Hans Rummel b. 1625 to Michel Rummel and Ursula Schunrsel in
Weilimdorf/Stuttgart, Germany. Occupation: Estate Farmer. Michel Koch or Rummel
b 1530, died June 27, 1620 Schmidden/Stuttgart. Children of Hans Rummel were:
Conrad Rummel, Hans Casper Rummel, Hans Melchior Rummel (my line)." and was
posted by Brenda Opdyke (opd...@enteract.com) on 20 Dec 2000 on:

You might wish to take a look at those postings there and contact the authors.

Dr. Manfred Rommel, 22 years Oberbuergermeister von Stuttgart up to 1964.
So i know, he was a descandent from Rommel, the 'Wüstenfuchs'
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/5693/manfred_rommel.html
You can try to connect him, and who knows, he can you tell a little more.
Best wishes,
Wolfgang
Although he wasn't SS, his rank of General still probably required him to
"submit to the purity test" which required him to list his ancestors back to at
least 1800. I don't know if those records survived WWII or are accessible, but
my point is that at one time, they did exist. If you can't find this from a
conventional source, try looking for this record (or for someone who might have
a copy).
Additionally, I seem to remember that his son or grandson may have been
interviewed on one of the "History Channel's" WWII series. Hopefully, a living
descendant would know.

Rommel
best regards,
"Johann David son Johann David junior (1820-1877) was a teacher in
Reutlingen, its son Johannes Erwin (1854-1913) was a rector in Aalen and the
father of the general field marshal",
the Grand father of Erwin Rommel, the general field marshal was Johann David
junior (1820-1877). Now I only need the name of his wife :-)
Thank you very much Thomas

Erwin's wife's name is given as Lucie Marie Mollin, looks like she came from Danzig (today's Gdansk, Poland).
