I've recently been in correspondence with a very nice gentleman from
Germany (possible distant cousin) who advises that his gr-grandfather
came from the village (or town) of Millisch. I'd like to work back on
this, but the GEO server comes back with no results. In looking on
other servers I can come up similar sounding names in present=day Poland
(MILCE ,MILCZ,MILCZA,MILICA,MILICZ,MILITSCH and MILICZ - this interests
me, as we have some circumstantial information that the family comes
from Schliesen.) Would anyone have any information on this village?
Would one of these Polish locations be a match?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Milicz.

The "l" has a / diagonal line through it, which is a different letter from the
plain "l."

The right German spelling is Militsch. Militsch was a district city
in county Militsch in the former Prussian province Silesia (Schlesien).
After 1945 Silesia became Polish. The Polish name of Militsch is now
Milicz.

There is also a smaller location called Militsch in the former county
Cosel in Silesia, the Polish name of this place is now Milice.

I have a list German name to Polish name.
In this list there is no Millisch but Militsch. The Polish name is Milicz,
see e-mail of Ernest Thode.
Milicz is situated 40km northnortheasterly of Wroclaw=Breslau which is
situated in Slaska=(Nieder-)Schlesien.
