Thanks!

The formal translation and use is "Guten Appetit"
however , at noon in a company cantina or under co-workers etc. in
industry it is
"Mahlzeit". This some 40 years ago was "Gesegnete Mahlzeit" = Blessed
Meal.
Meal and Mahl have some same root!
Helmut in Hamburg, thinking to have some good meal to.
Mahlzeit!

>Esse gut!
When I lived in Bavaria the waiters used to say "Guten Appetit" (the
final T is pronounced, unlike in French).

"Guten Appetit" is absolutely correct, nobody says "Esse gut!".

When the meal is over, you say "Ich bin zot".

Oh, no. It isn't a formal phrase like "Guten Appetit". In most cases
it wouldn't fit to say "Ich bin satt".

although it is better to say Ich bin satt than to say "ich bin voll"
which has other connotations (though one does hear this at an
occasional German table...
as for I am full, you could just say to the host or hostess, Nein,
danke aber Alles war sehr lecker. (no thank you, but everything was
delicious...guten Appetit to all and Mahlzeit too! Johannes
