Hi Lists,
I'm researching my Obermeier family in Germany and I came across one of my generation as having two children born in the same year but different days. One (male) was 15 Apr 1727 and the other (female) was 28 Sept 1727. Why would this be. Got the info from the LDS site. I realize the LDS records have lots of errors and has duplicates.

most probably it is just a reading error. If not, you should verify the
dates from other documents and take into account, that this might be
baptism dates, not birth dates.

IMHO the only way to solve this is to check the original records.
My thoughts:
a) cousins were mixed up, or
b) misreading of the date (maybe 1721 ?)

Check the references, and see if this information is user submitted, or
if it's extracted from a microfilm of the records themselves. If the
latter, then you can order the film and read the records for yourself --
that will probably clarify the dates.

Thanks everyone for your response to my question.
I plan to visit my local LDS and look at the actual microfilm records.

Unless you saw this in the original document (film or digitized), it's an error in reading or transcription. If it's in the original, think about parents with similar names.

Hi Robert,

One possibility I've found during my research is that frequently birth
records are Church records rather than civil records. Church records
frequently will reflect baptismal date, not necessarily the birth
date! In some older German Catholic Church records, the child was
typically baptized the same day as birth, but in other Churches, the
baptism may have occurred a few days later!
