Thanks
Tell us as much as you know
Who your parents were, where/when they were born, who your grandparents
were, where/when they were born, and so on. When did they come to South
Africa? Are there any family history stories you have which can be
followed up ? There may be people who can help you, but without further
details this will be difficult - GERBER is a common surname and not all
GERBERs are related.

In 2001 there were
6343 Gerber
in the German phone directory.
The German word Gerber means a tanner. A 'Gerber' makes leather out
of the skin or hide of animals.

Don't forget other german-speaking countries. There are Gerbers in Switzerland
too....
And my Alsatian ancestors.
