Hello rooters,

Imagine, your ancestor emmigrated in 1817 from
Germany to America, and had been interviewed by
someone for the reasons... and you could read
what he said ...

THIS EXISTS !

In my local library in Fellbach I found a book
"Aufbruch nach Amerika, die Auswanderungsbefragungen
des Friedrich List".

"The Rechnungsrat (auditor?) Friedrich List has
been instructed in 1817, to organise an interview
session with the emmigrants from Baden and
W"urttemberg. Intention of the instructing king
was, to find out the reasons for the increasing
emmigration rates and start countermeasures. In the
document 15 you can find the single interviews."

I have set up a list of the interviewed persons,
their location, their profession, age and marital
status. Have a look on my homepage
http://home.t-online.de/home/Thomas.Scharnowski
and tell me if you are related to one of them, I
will then send you the interview text.

These are the locations of the about 100 interviewed
persons:

Beutelspach Cleversulzbach Dahenfeld Dettingen
Dimbach Eberstadt Ellhofen Eschenau Freudental
Geradstetten G"oppingen Hierweiler Kirchheim
