In September of 1743 in NewYork, Conrad DeLong married Catherine
Froelich. She was born about 1720 and was the daughter of Johann Valentin
Froligh and his wife, Anna Appolina Rapp.
Anna Appolina Rapp was born on 22/1/1682 at Oberndorf, (Germany?) and
was the daughter of Hans Peter Rapp who had married Anna Margareth Sontag
on 3/6/1673. They were said to be from Mannweiler which I assume was a
city in Germany.
Hans Peter Rapp was the son of Herr Abmus Rapp and Appolina Wenz who
were married at Pfaltz Zweybruck, ober Schultheissen on 23/11/1652.
Anna Margareth Sontag was the daughter of Claus Sontag.
This is about all I know of these ancestors and I would like to find out
much more if that is possible.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated---Ted

We both have extensive genealogies developed which means, of course, that
many names are involved. But there are names that we have more interest
in than others:
Ted>>Brassard, Pilote, Dwyer, Perkins,Harold, Frolich, Kierstede, Weiser,
Anneke Jans, Rapp, & DeLong
Pat>>Baxter, Barnum, Calkins, Kirkham, Joy, Fields, Heald, Waite,

> Anna Appolina Rapp was born on 22/1/1682 at Oberndorf, (Germany?)
that alone is quite difficult since there are umpty Oberndorf (means
sort of "upper village").
> They were said to be from Mannweiler which I assume was a city in G.
Not quite, it is a village, which even with another village part
together, named Cölln, does not have any church. But, surprise, the
church (only a Catholic one exists) for this village is in an Oberndorf!
So the wedding may be registered there:

With Zweybruck the nowadays city of Zweibruecken may be meant, "ober
Schultheissen" may be sort of a "civil" wedding (very unusual to me for
the 17th century) carried out by the mayor (=Schultheiss). In the city
administration they should be able to tell you more about such an
unusual event:
Stadtverwaltung Zweibrücken
Herzogstr.1
66482 Zweibrücken
BTW, in the current phone directory for Zweibrücken there are 13 entries
WENZ, and 7 entries RAPP.
> Anna Margareth Sontag was the daughter of Claus Sontag.
>From the 331 current phonebook entries of SONTAG, which are evenly
spread over all Germany, there are also some in the Saar-area (which is
the one for Zweibrücken, Oberndorf and Mannweiler-Cölln).
BTW, the relative frequent occurrence of SONTAG (one N) with some in the
assumed area of origin makes it relative probable, your ancestors used
the appropriate spelling. Anyhow, the German word for Sunday = Sonntag
(2 N!) appears in the current phonebook with > 6400 entries.
Coming back to FROELICH: there are currently some 800 entries in all
Germany. Again, this could be a misspelling, since the current spelling
of happy = froehlich. For FROEHLICH (including an H!) there are almost
13,000 entries in the German phonebook.
Perhaps your ancestor Johann Valentin FROELICH and Anna Appolina RAPP
married at Oberndorf (address of church see above) and/or registered the
birth and christening of their daughter Catherine there.
Perhaps Mr. Froelich in Oberndorf knows something about _his_ ancestors,
and you may find out you were relatives:
