Wildau family

Tyring to contact any one with the name Wildau or Von Wildernau (as it was 300
years ago). The name was shortened to Wildau and I only know of 3 others with
the same name. Is it German - Dutch - or Hungarian in origin?

My German born, GGgrandfather was named Simon Wilnau and in many records it
is misspelled as Wlnan, Wilmew etc
Is it possible that this is another way to spell the same name?
I thought it had a Danish origin.

Other spellings could be Wilnauer, Willnauer and so on.

many Willnauer, Wilnauer etc.
in the German phone directory.

(Willnauer is a person coming from the town 'Willnau')
But I cannot find a town with such a name in Germany. There has been
a town 'Willenau' in Silesia, now Poland.
