In the 1950s the city and its region were returned to Poland from Germany.
The town and everything in it is now in Polish.
Where would these old German records be located? The LDS church does not
have films for the time period I need (1885- 1905).

Civil Registers are at the Polish State Archive at Gorzow, their web site
is at http://gorzow.ap.gov.pl/index.php
Duplicates are (incomplete) at Standesamt I, Berlin.

No, they became Polish in 1945 as a result of wwii.
