There is a Teasdale line in Quebec which descends from Samuel-Charles
Nuhalte, son of Henri and Marie Thisdale. He is said to be from
England in his marriage in Batiscan on February 18 1753, but given the
time period, he could have been a prisonner from New-England. Would
anybody have some info on him?

Bonjour Bertrand .... I have a copy of the Batiscan Marriage Repertoire
and the name NUHALTE is not listed. There are several NAULT marriages listed
but they are a century or more later.
I also checked 2 other Champlain Mar. Reps. I have. I see NAULT but no
NUHALTE.

Ooops! Sorry, my mistake: the marriage was at
Ste-Genevieve-de-Batiscan. But I have the marriage already; I am
looking for some information on him prior to that. How did someone
from "La ville diorque à londre" end up in a St-Lawrence Valley rural
parish in 1753?

Dear Bertrand,
As you probably know, this line was also known as NOEL in later years. At
the marriage of one of his children: Rivière-du-Loup (Louiseville)
1787-04-16 JOSEPH TISDEL to ANGELIQUE RINGUET
Father : SAMUEL CHARLES TISDEL NOEL Mother : MARIE CATHERINE GRANDBOIS
GUILBAULT

A Teasdale friend of mine is interested as well. Before we found Samuel
on PRDH, I had told her of a Henry Teasdale mentioned in Germain Lesage
_Histoire de Louiseville_. Lesage says Henry Teasdale, "un loyaliste de la
Nouvelle-Angleterre," settled in Rivière-du-Loup (Louiseville) after the
American Revolution (about 1779) and cites _Muster Roll Loyal New
Englanders, 1779, APC [Archives publiques du Canada, Ottawa]. This does
not appear to fit a 1753 marriage for a son of Henry, though, if the two
Henrys are indeed the same person.
