Was an AirGunner/Wireless Operator and finished up as Warrant Officer. Shot downtwice during the war. One of those times, he came down in a desert and allthirteen men survived. A close mate Leonard, also in the RNZAF with Bob,married Josie from Coventry, England. Leonard asked Bob if anythinghappened to him would he look after his wife Josie. Wars. In the first as a private in the 4th field Ambulance from 17 Sept
1914 till 18 Nov 1918. In the second as a Lieutenant in 6th Battalion
from 27 Feb 1942 till his discharge after being shot overseas on 1
October 1943. He was repatriated to Australia wounded and suffering the
effects of mustard gas and passed away in 1951

I too, was the first in my family to find the link to my Grandfather. Until
about 2 years ago, we did not know who that was. To find out last Thursday
that he served in Gallipoli, was timing I'd conservatively explain as
'spooky'.

in August, 1915, later going on to Somme, France, where he suffered a shell
