Frederick Joseph BRIENT, originally from Hobart, Tas, moved from his
home in Tintern Av Toorak (Vic) to his new "mansion" Ashendene, Olinda
(Vic) in the 1930s.
fred died in the early 1950s at Leura in the Blue Mountains NSW, quite
possibly at the home of relative - brother Albert Lachlan?
Fred seems to have had an interest in the arts and must have had some
money ..
To help understand how he lived - I'm hoping that sks will have a look
at the ancestry electoral rolls and advise the occupation listed
alongside Fred's name - Fred was on the rolls in Victoria from about
1908 until the 1940s?
Also - if you have the chance - maybe have a look for Albert Lachlan
BRIENT in NSW - maybe there's an address in Leura or Katoomba?
Fred's mother was Alice BRIENT nee Tasker - so maybe she is on the rolls
for Leura?
I'm not related to these people - but have an interest in the occupants
of Ashendene.
FWIW - Brient was probably the grandson? of a convict sent ot Tasmania,
thanking you for any assistance
regards
Robert
