Hello listers,

I have been reading with interest all the posts about no posts and no I
definitely have not completed my family history. Thought I had better find a
query so here goes.

I have just received a NZ death printout for Violet BUCKLEY nee WILLIS aged
91 years, born 25 May 1912 in Gisborne to parents Deloraine and Arthur
WILLIS, burial was at Taita Lawn Cemetery, husband was Maurice BUCKLEY and
she was a widow at death and had married in Gisborne at age 19 so marriage
date about 1931 and there were 3 daughters and one son.

Is there any way I can find newspaper death notices and marriage notices?

Any help appreciated

Hi Glenys,

I was lurking and saw your post - hooray.

Try this: www.paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/

You do mean Gisborne NZ? not Vic.

Thanks Di,

Sorry that query was sent rather hurriedly, and thanks for your reply.

I neglected to say she died in 2003 and yes, it is NZ and I don't think
Paperspast goes anywhere near that date?

Cheers Glenys

Only place you might find them is on BMD fiche, most libraries, have them
here in Queensland NZ ones are upto 1990, and later ones give mothers Maiden

Dear Kiwi in Aus

Are you referring to birth registrations for NZ up to 1990?

According to ages of children on death certificate of mother Violet, they
would have been born in the years 1933, 1935, 1945 and 1952. So I just
assumed they would not be available.

Cheers Glenys

Yes not on line but on the micro Fiche, (remember them we all used them
before online became available) ;-)

Hi Glenys

If you go to the National Library of NZ website and click on Ask a Librarian
you can ask them to look up The Dominion Post in Wellington and send it to
you. Most of the state/national libraries in Australia have this service
and have used it several times as a last resort. You will have to give the
correct name and date they died.

By 2003 Wellington only had one daily newspaper.
