Hello all

Normally get my messages via email but have not been able to download any for three weeks.

Telstra has done this a number of times, could be months before they get it together again.

Just having a grumble. Anyone else having the same problem?

Regards Kate

Dear Kate,

I don't have any trouble with Bigpond.

According to the raw data of your e-mail you are using a newsfeed program to
send and receive. news.linkpendium.com
May I suggest that the problem is with this newsfeed service to e-mail, which
is neither Bigpond nor Telstra.

May I suggest you totally abandon the newsfeed method and use the direct e-mail
via Rootsweb service, by subscribing to GENANZ You will be much happier.

The newsfeed service that works with soc.genealogy.aust+nz is the problem.
Don't ask me how, but Google is no longer supporting google groups the way it
once was which impacts on newsfeeds or newsreaders which impacts somehow on
all other sub feeders etc, etc

Once upon a time this was the only method with groups. That was back b.g.
(before Google) in the days of De-ja news in the mid 1990's . The best search
engine then was Alta-Vista or Dogpile. The internet was just starting to be
commonplace
I have not used that method for years now.
I have just checked with it again.

Type : soc.genealogy.australia+nz into Google search. You will find
that there's a new & updated system. It seems that it NO LONGER sends out
messages by e-mail. Your message visible there is number 88,944

The newsfeed service linked to GENANZ is where all the nasties and viruses
originate, ... unfortunately.

Hope this answers your question.

Cheers,

Tony Moore

I gave up on Telstra. I post to aioe.org, which is free, and download from
cambrium.nl as well.

Doug.

Kate,
try newsgroup server as your server.
news.aioe.org
its free and one can have posts to and from it.
It may bring up an error mesasage that its not valid when setting it up but
ignore the error and proceed

Thank you to all who replied with suggestions. I hate posting on Google groups, no set Signature, no spell checker, no idea if I'm replying to one or all, no saving your work if you have to dash away for a minute, just hope I'm getting it right.
I might have to try one of the other options.

I also read about Bigpond disconnecting the server, then read another response elsewhere that they had heard something to the contrary (probably from tech support, who don't seem to know what a Newsgroup is)
