I hereby give permission for anyone to replicate the work I have done on my
website after my death, in fact so many have copied it before I die that I
am guaranteed it will survive. That's because what I put up is publicly
available information. BTW - it is pretty much like Pearls website -
publicly available material that many different people worked on.
No one owns the info on my website - I just organised it - when I die my
brother may die after me and then no-one will have access to the hundreds of
pages donated by many different people to the project. So I put it on
Rootsweb; but just in case someone doesnt find it on Rootsweb then it is in
a couple of other places as well.
May I also give encouragement to the many people who have found this
newsgroup/mail-list a bit confronting lately - I have sat in for the past 9
years (Jan 1997 to be precise) and the rude ones come and go, as do the
pompous asses who feel that no-one ever started out without a clue of what
they were doing. It took me some months to get game enough to contribute or
ask questions but I had a go and now I get it close to right sometimes.
I for one had no idea of how to approach what I was doing and asked some
monumentally stupid questions when I started out. People like Pearl and Pat
who used to contribute to the group gave considerably of their time and
patiently of their knowledge. I am very lucky I have first hand experience
of my mother and several other newbies and have spend time with them
learning what their version of what they want is. I still cant make my very
well educated mother use punctuation or paragraphs but at least now she uses
full stops and capitals.
What comes around goes around and eventually the rude and pompous move on
leaving the dedicated and patient and the newsgroup/mail-list will be a nice
place for people to communicate and get to know each other.
There are quite a few genuine people out there who will quietly answer you
on the side with professional answers and considerate hints so killfile the
ones you dont want to hear from and you will get there eventually.
And remember what we do is for our pleasure and entertainment and when it is
no longer fun and interesting you may as well give up.

Over the years I've discovered a few skeletons in the closet and I've
put flesh on their bones and made them dance but I could never have
done it without the dedication and hard work of people like yourself
and Pearl Wilson just to name a few. Lets all work together and
breathe new life into our ancestors, isn't that what we're here for?
Best wishes,
Terri,

A highly suitable quotation comes to mind but unfortunately could not be
aired on this or any List.

are you related to the o'gormans that had the blind shop in sydney road,
north coburg? grew up in the area and remember it well. might even still be
there from memory. could be a dead end, but couldn't help asking, noting
that you list your suburb as the neighbouring (well, what's a few kilometres
in melbourne?!) greensborough.
