Hello all
I know I've posted this before but maybe there are some new members who
might have some information about these two people.
Henry Alexander Walker - arrived from Virginia? USA approx 1859 in
Launceston, was a cook on the "Black Swan" sailing between Launceston and
Melbourne. Mostly passengers.
He married a Sarah Ann Wheeler in Launceston 12th Jan 1860. He states his
age as 28 when married so would have been born approx 1832 in USA.
Henry then signed up as a crew member for the ship Cosmopolitan in May 1860.
Apparently Henry was shanghied onto a ship coming to Australia (maybe around
1850 to 1859?) and was so sea sick that when he arrived he disappeared.
From there he and Sarah jump around to NSW and Vic. Henry ended up in
Tasmania where he died in 1911. There is a chance he went back to the US
inbetween all the other moves. There were 13 children?
Specifically we are looking for 3 of the children,
Christopher Walker born possibly Vic 1860 - 63
Minnie (abbrev?) Born 1863 - 1876 NSW or Vic
Sidney Joseph Born 1876 or 77 again either NSW or Vic
Death of Sarah Walker nee Wheeler
Any details at all about Henry Walker. He was a gold prospector and would
possibly have been on any or all of the goldfields in Vic or NSW. We know
he was in Gulgong NSW around 1872.
Is there anyone out there who is researching any of these lines or anyone
who can help with further information?
Thanks in advance
Warm smile from a beautiful day in Hawaii
Lyn
