Trove.com search

[Di Allen]

Have had some luck with 'simple search' on Trove (using words Divorce and a name)but none tracing a death, obit or funeral record found earlier in Ryerson on line index. Name was Steward, Delphine decd.1993 Published Syd.Morn.Herald 11 Dec 1993.
Was hoping for anything- relatives names, funeral parlour perhaps.
Must be doing something wrong? Keep getting headings under 'Advertising'
Any help gratefully received.

PS Filled in the on-line Trove survey as suggested here.

The death notice states

Stewart, Delphine Pretoria (Del), December 9, 1993, at hospital, late of
Wahroonga, beloved wife of Malcolm, loved mother and mother-in-law of
Christine and Barry, Virginia and John and Carolyn. fond grandmother of
Bronwyn and Ingrid.

Funeral notice states that the service was held in the West Chapel,
Northern Suburbs Crematorium on Monday 13 December. Funeral Director
was Gregory and Carr. They are located on the Pacific Highway at Gordon.

Di I see someone has sent you the info you wanted. I use advanced search put
in a name year range state if I know and tick family notices and sort by
year earliest first, helps reduce false hits, also I think your query was to
recent for Trove Jenny

Hi Di,

Your basic problem is the SMH is in Trove to 1954 only.
Canberra Times is only paper post 1954 , that's up to 1979

The NSW State Library has the SMH on line to abt 1995 BUT you
need a library card and be a NSW resident to access .

We do look ups for a lot of years of the SMH plus some other
papers. Look up icon > see main page, 2nd down left hand side

It's worth explaining that newspapers published before 1955 are now in the
public domain (not subject to copyright), which means the libraries can
digitise them and provide them online for us. However, newspapers published
after 1955 are subject to the copyright and can only be included in Trove if
the publisher (or other copyright holder) gives their consent. So far only a
couple of publishers have been willing to do this (e.g. the Canberra Times
and the Women's Weekly are available for some years after 1955).
