Contact addresses for regions are given below. Please do not send mail
to me before you try the appropriate address by region. Thank you.
There is one more mailing list. In English. Contact address:
abro...@watdragon.waterloo.edu
This English mailing list is a sublist of the big one (i.e. contains all
messages send to the big one that are in English, and, very rarely, a
translation
of some articles originally posted on the big list). The traffic is not
that high, but
we hope to improve it.
About the editorial policy:
- both mailing lists are moderated; but do accept different opinions.
Only those
contributions that are considered to be offensive, are not released.
- as it is said, the news are mainly from Zagreb; but the weekly `Vreme' from
Belgrade is quite often cited (almost as often as weekly `Danas' from Zagreb)
- from the States and UK, we are trying to provide interesting contributions.
Occasionally we send agency news (as much as we can obtain), written radio/TV
news,... And, with a delay, articles from papers in English .
- I have been forwarding (following the requests from many readers) `BECT' for
last couple of issues (i.e. for last two months), in order to provide the other
views. I plan to do that in the near future as well. Occasionally, I resend
something from RokPress.
Finally, about my editorial influence.
I have only a small cosmetic influence on the news. I send
everything that arrives, if I do not find it offensive. Even if I
disagree on the
issue. So, please do not flame me for particular article. Flame the source
(i.e. the newspaper).
I hope this explains a bit more about these news mailing lists.

I have not been consulted about that message. I am sorry that
the mistake appeared, and I have no intention to start a war with other news
distributions.

I realy appreciate that we finally got some info on how news networks
work. It also shows good will to overcome personal disputes, and to try to
continue civilized discussion, even when there is no agreement in oppinions.
Well, I cannot resist not to suggest the topic for discussion for all of us
netlanders, and that is: "How we can help (WE, readers) improve the quality
of news sent through E-Mail". I suggest that every predetermined period of
time, readers send oppinions about objectivity, completeness, and other
things which make news good or bad, and that summary of oppinions be published
in the news. Maybe even to think about the rating of news, like a single
number, so that people who reads the news are not subject to propaganda of
any kind without previos knowledge about the overall quality of news.
Predetermined period of time could be for instance 3 months, or so.

Many people, who read the news from Croatian network, do not like
the source of the news (i.e. "Vjesnik"), which is now definitely worse than
"Politika" from Beograd (that was realy hard to accomplish, but somehow
they achived that). If the people who decide about the source, would now this
fact, maybe they would change to something else. It would be interesting
to now which are other daily newspapers in Zagreb or Croatia.
Pozdrav,
Dragan

Dear Mr. Marn
the authorised (by us) distributors for BECT, for USA is
Ljubisa Stevanovic: ste...@cobalt.cco.caltech.edu
and, Petar Simic: si...@wega.cco.caltech.edu
and not Mr.Nenad Antonic.
Both you, and Mr. Antonic will, therefore, in the future obtain
your personal copy of BECT from the above mentioned people.
We would appreciate if you have this in mind in the future, when
posting information about newsgroups on the open bboards. People
interested from news from Yugoslavia should have the choise to whether
they want to supscribe to one, another, or both sources of news.
I would appreciate if you post this letter on the
soc.cult.yugoslavia. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely Yours,
Srdjan

ma...@wright.seas.ucla.edu ! kdor visoko leta ...
Thank you for flowers, flames and fun ! ... ima dober razgled
People, I really don't understand what are you arguing about. As far as I
remember there was initially posted a question where it is possible to obtain
the news from Yugoslavia. Jure was kind enough to post a kind of summary from
his perspective. Under this term I understand from the point of his
understanding of "From:" address. And then there came a number of people and
started to argue about the real source of news. Yes, it is necessary to find
out the real source and to give him a credit, but when you start an
investigation, you are happy with any help. Therefore I think that all of you
who are blameing Mr.Marn, for in intentional spreading of wrong information
arround, are _COMPLETELY_ wrong. If you know that he is wrong, than it needs
only a polite clarification and not an attack on him and his posting. From the
same point of Nenad could start attacking him not to mention the "English
mailing list" which goes from him with articles in English and about
Yugoslavia.
Please, people, be more patient and try to help each other and not attack each
other.
Best regards
Andrej
PS: If you would like, I can collect a short information about each possible
and existing mailing list and I can post the summary. Send them to me with
a short description of its intent and content, the name of contact person(s),
and with a language used in the articles. If you can provide each of these
information in English and some Yugoslavian language -- even better. I will
not translate neither correct them but only edit.
