I am soon to acquire a Welsh Terrier pup and was looking for a good
Welsh name for him. I've tried looking up names on the WWW, without
success. If you know terriers, you know they have a reputation for
independence and intelligence and for being humorous.

Anyone like to try their hand at a good Welsh name for such a dog.

Oh, by the way, most dog authorities suggest a two syllable name ending
in a vowel.

Many thanks,
Bob G

Gelert was Llywellyn the Great's dog, but he was a hound---

You can't go wrong with 'Taffy'. Until recently I had a black cocker spaniel by
that name. The bravest, most loyal, fun dog you could wish to have. I hope
yours gives you as much pleasure.

Our dog is a little Maltese - nothing Welsh about him, but undeterred
we call him "Dylan Thomas".

Hi,

Pero (yes, Spanish for dog) and Mot are common Welsh names for dogs.

Hwyl,
Geraint

I would suggest something good and historical like "CaraDOG", although it does
violate the 1-2 syllable rule.

Pob hwyl,

How about 'Ci bach'. Nope it don't end in a vowel but you can't win them
all.

My brother had a dog called Pedwar, a lurcher. Only problem was, she was
female, so should have been called Pedair. Unfortunately she passed away
about a year ago.
