DOYLESTOWN, PA - On March 31, the Michener Art Museum will open the Maxo
Vanka exhibit: The Gift of Sympathy. Maximilian Vanka was born in Croatia
and moved to Bucks County, PA. He is an internationally recognized artist
whose work drew on Renaissance art and the religious iconography of Croatia.
The Vanka show will run from March 31 through June 24, 2001. The museum
offers guided tours of this exhibit as well as luncheon tour packages.

The James A. Michener Art Museum can accommodate tour groups with a two-week
advance reservation. You may also schedule tours with lunches. The museum is
open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday evenings
until 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is
closed Mondays and major holidays.
The museum gift shop offers books, stationery and posters related to the
permanent collection and exhibitions as well as a unique selection of gifts
from Bucks County artisans.
Blu's Cafe at the Michener is open daily for breakfast and lunch and light
dinner on Wednesday evening. Seating capacity is up to 10 people, no
reservations required. Larger groups of up to 150 can be accommodated in a
private reception room if you call the above phone number.
