BYD (Bǐyàdí) a battery manufacturer in China has ventured into the
business of car manufacturing. It started making electric car in 2008
and sold almost 400,000 units in the first year. In 2010, it sold over
half a millions units(519,800). Its sales target for 2011 is 800,000
units. It is projected that in five years, BYD electric cars will be
the largest local car manufacturer for the China market. The oil
companies are helpless to prevent this from becoming an uncomfortable
reality.
Warren Buffett, famous for his investment brilliance, bought 10% of
BYD for $230 million. ... the value of his investment in BYD is now
worth a cool $1 billion. According to Blomberg, BYD ranks six among
the top 50 Most Innovative Companies 2010.
What is the secret for BYD's success ?
The BYD car battery is the secret of its enormous success. Most hybrid
car batteries now in use.... is made of very expensive material...
lithium ion ...and has a limited range...not more than 120 km. BYD
have developed battery technology that uses iron ion, which is both
plentiful and cheap. It has a range of up to
400 km on a full charge. The range can be extend for another 200 km
(on a half charge) which can be done within 10 mins. A full charge
in just one hour. (recharging facilities is now available in most
cities in China).
In comparison, normal hybrid car require overnight recharging.
The Oil companies are trying their utmost to block this Chinese
electric car from entering the US and Europe markets.. their spin
doctors are out in force to create a bad image of the BYD car...and to
stop their govts from granting approval for its import and sales.
How is a car that emit nor carbon dioxide, no smoke, no noise...
( green and clean) can be bad for the USA and Europe ?

What is the cost of the e6? I wonder if the e6 can compete against
Tesla's new model coming out for around $50,000.
Is the Telsa an all-electric car ? At $50,000 it is grossly over
priced.
The BYD dual system model (F3DM with two independent systems - one
electric and the other a blended gas-electric hybrid) is selling in
the USA
at $28,800 (list price)
The all-electric e6 model with a huge 60 kWh battery pack, is selling
at $35,000 before discount. (see website below)
After discount, the F3DM sell at $18,000 and the e6 sell at less than
$25,000.
BYD electric cars sell at much less in the China domestic market.
BYD now face the problems of battery charging station...in all major
cities in the USA. All gas stations refused to allow the installation
of charging facilities for BYD electric cars. The oil giants are
using
this as a weapon to prevent the entry of pure electric cars into
the USA market.
Yes, you can buy a Roadster today (order it) for $105,000. Tesla
bought the NMMI plant in Fremont to assemble the new 2012 model for
around $50,000 - $58,000. The mileage is about the same, a full
charge will go for about 250 miles.
> At $50,000 it is grossly over priced.
People are waiting in line to get the Roadster at $105,000 apiece.
A new cheaper model will come out next year at the NMMI plant.

They should get together with GM and Nissan to come out with a
standard so all future electric car can plug in the same socket.
GM is selling the GM VOLT and Nissan is selling the Leaf. Nissan
charges $3,500 to install a 220 volt socket in your garage.

China's BYD ....
Has been backing away from many of their performance claims.
of their batteries. The full name of "Fe Battery" is Lithium
Iron Phosphate battery. Invented at MIT, it uses the LiFePO4
compound for cathode, rather than lithium cobalt dioxide, or
LiCoO2.
Both technologies, have their respective pros and cons.
The principal disadvantage of the Fe battery is lower energy
density vis-a-vis the Co battery. USA's electric car maker -
Tesla, uses the latter while China's BYD chooses the former.
To achieve a 249 mile range, BYD's battery pack weights 1323
lb.
Tesla's, OTOH, is a much lighter 900 lb ....

The single most important factor, that determines the energy
efficiency of a car, more so than aerodynamics, is weight.
Take you a month to think of an answer, huh, Albert Fung?
You are farting...smelly and hot farts.
The Iron Ion batteries are now in used in all the
later models produced by BYD. It is definitely cheap
and plentiful...\
Because of the low cost batteries, BYD can sell
the cars at a quarter of the price of those electric
cars produced in the USA. China is selling a million
electric cars a year NOW.
Electric cars are becoming a reality in China....in
the west it is stil a gimmick. The oil companies can
do NOTHING to stop the advent of the electric cars
in the bigger car market in the world. The market for
electric car is GROWING FAST.
You seem to be a pro China writer.
We could start with free entry for electric cars into the CBD. In that
way, the air there would be cleaner.

Confusing electric vehicles ....
The likes of electric scooters for handicaps, battery power-
ed bicycles and electric golf carts, intentionally or other-
wise, with electric cars is quite understandable, albeit in-
excuable, for China hot-heads.
Last year, there were 295 registered electric cars in China.
That is hundreds, not millions. In the USA, it is about 2+K.
Silicon Valley's Tesla Motors, was the first in the world to
record one million highway passenger-miles driven by its all
electric sports car - the Roadster.
Even with attractive subsidies from the government, very few
Chinese buyers are remotely interested in all electric cars.
The sticker shock of the expensive battery pack that must be
replaced every two to three years keeps them at bay.
China does not have a sufficient power infrastructure for an
electric car economy. US based IBM, and GE, are helping them
on that. But it will takes years, if not decades, and count-
less billion of RMB. At the current moment, the transmission
and distribution (T/D) efficiency of her power grid is quite
abominable. And is in dire need of upgrading.
It losses 18-20% of electricity entrusted to it for T/D.
For a proper perspective, in advanced countries that rate is
under 5%. Without a network of charging stations, it is non-
starter for all electric cars. They are a rarity and scatter
-ed, if existed, in most Chinese cities.
Noble aspirations, must be tempered by humble realities ....
China is not even down, Albert Fung is already jumping and stomping on
China already. I have said it many many times, China's worst enemy is
the Chinese people themselves, and Albert Fung is the worst of the
worst.
Shove those jasmine you picked back up your asshole, homo Fungus!
Pansy Fungus admitted he is a homo:

Did I answer you ?
Did I answer you ?
I am not pro-this or pro-that ...I seek the truth and
write about the truth.
Smelly farts. Stop polluting this forum.
Cars are not important.
Truth that you are God is more important.
Or you are Buddha is more important.
The truth...you are NOT a God or a Buddha.
You are just normal person who was jailed
and has been warded in woodbridge.
Are you still on medication ?
I have no medication.
My nasal gaze meditation can cure craziness or depression.
In Lotus Sutra, Maitreya's previous life was Fame Seeker.
This is what I am.
See how I expound 4 line stanze in
http://www.kewkahfatt.9f.com/buddhistsutra.html .
Remanded in Woodbridge is nothing.
The court 21 sentenced me to prison was saying I am not mad. If mad I
should be landed in IMH for years.
Your claim to be a God or a Buddha ....say that
you are still sick. You need to take medication.
Meditation cannot cure your mental illness....only
medicine can.
.> In Lotus Sutra, Maitreya's previous life was Fame Seeker.
The Lotus Sutra is fake Buddhism....not the
original Buddha teaching. To learn true Buddhism, you
have to start with Buddha's first teaching..."the four
noble truth" and "the Eight-fold path "
If you want to learn Meditation, you can learn from the
"Satipatthana Sutta: The Foundations of Mindfulness"
