Kerry fires back at 'dirty' tactics

The senator says the president is using a veterans group to smear his
image.
BETH GORHAM, CP 2004-08-20 03:24:43

WASHINGTON -- John Kerry launched a surprising, forceful attack
yesterday on George W. Bush, accusing the president of hiding behind
supporters who have been trying to discredit the senator's decorated
Vietnam War service. "He wants them to do his dirty work," said Kerry,
the Democratic presidential candidate, calling the group known as
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth "a front for the Bush campaign."

"This group isn't interested in the truth and they're not telling the
truth," Kerry told a firefighters convention in Boston. "They're
funded by hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Republican
contributor out of Texas.

(And the Kerry camp is doing everything they can to censor their right
to free speech.)

"The fact that the president won't denounce what they're up to tells
you everything that you need to know."

(Bush already dissassociated himself from Swift Boat Vets for Truth
and asked that Kerry supporters cease and desist from their four-year
campaign of smears and lies against the President, his wife, and his
family.)

The Bush campaign immediately denied Kerry's accusation, saying he
knows full well the president has noted the Democrat's "noble" service
and is more interested in talking about current issues than the
distant past.

(Kerry no doubt felt Bush was being sarcastic in referring to Kerry's
"noble service.")

The war of words marked a new, bitter stage in a very tight election
race where Kerry is counting on his... ("war hero" status, which seeks
to allege that) ... he's the right man to lead Americans worried about
terrorism and divided over the Iraq conflict.

A loyal "band of brothers" who served on Kerry's boat in Vietnam were
featured at the Democratic national convention last month.

Until yesterday, Kerry stood by while the Swift Boat group accused him
of lying about his war record... (in which for four months he has
contended that he was) ... under heavy enemy fire in order to win a
Bronze Star, Silver Star and three Purple Hearts.

I'll take the word of 64 service men who served with Kerry before I will
believe him. His concuct and lies before Congress in 72 and in Paris
with the North Viet Namese is enough reason by themselves to keep this
rabid liberal traitor out of public office.

The right of speech doesn't give neo-cons the right of lible.
It just proves how desperate the neo-con Bush has become. Bush is a liar and
so are the mud slinging Republicans.
The trouble with the Vietnam era veterans is that they can't face up to the
fact that the Vietcong kicked their asses.
These assholes are just 50ish type beerbelly losers.

I assume you mean libel? To libel someone you have to say something that is
knowingly untrue when you said it. Many of the people that are making these
claims have done so for years with plenty of evidence to back up their
claims...you may not like what they say but it is not libel. Learn to live
with it.....

Bush desperate? Let's see the statement made by Bush's admin on the subject
is:
MR. McCLELLAN: We've already said we weren't involved in any way in these
ads. We've made that clear. I do think that Senator Kerry losing his cool
should not be an excuse for him to lash out at the President with false and
baseless attacks. I mean, where has the Kerry been -- Kerry campaign been
for the last year while more than $62 million in funding through these
shadowy groups has been used to negatively attack the President. The Kerry
campaign has been noticeably silent, and in many instances, they have
actually fueled these kinds of attacks by these shadowy groups that are
funded by unregulated soft money.

The Vietcong didn't kick their asses...it was puke assed liberals like Kerry
that lost the war for us. His testimony (or lies) to Congress were quite the
spectacle, he is paying for them now. He is having to live with his own
words.

> These assholes are just 50ish type beerbelly losers.

And you are? Another lying liberal puke? Your words speak for

Really, this is the only way he could respond. He had to deny it, and what
better way? Kerry made the mistake of making his service record an issue,
and now that it's blown up in his face, he's crying foul. His war time
"buddies" have all contradicted what he has been feeding the public, and the
only way to save face is to take up the "Bush put 'em up to it" chant.

Hopefully, the public will now see Kerry for who he really is. Of course,
the die hard Liberals won't be impacted, but perhaps the reasoning public
will.

not been shown to be true. In fact, your statement borders on libel, does it
not?

Actually, judging by Kerry's response, I believe that it is *his* camp that

Not true Eugene. We could have won that war if it wasn't for the extremely
poor leadership of JF Kennedy, then and mainly LB Johnson and Sec. of
Defense McNamara. Yes, the Vietcong won with the help of Anti-War Leaders
like John Forbes Kerry but first and mainly by the piss poor leadership of
that numnut President Lyndon B. Johnson.

You better check lible. Is calling the President Hitler lible? Is calling
the President a liar lible? Is saying the election in Florida was stolen
lible when all the recounts by the big newspaper chains say Bush won by over
7,000 votes?

No, Kerry put his Nam record in play at the convention while ignoring his
Attorney.General record and his almost 20 year North East Super Liberal
Anti-Military One World Government Senate record. Hell, the guy couldn't
even attend the Senate Intelligence Committee Meetings! He even proposed to
cut the funding of intelligence operations by $6 Billion AFTER the 1993 WTC
bombings (even his mentor - Sen. Ted Kennedy - was against that cut.)

I think you better read up on the history of the Vietnam War and the
Anti-War protests led by Kerry before you say all Vietnam Vets are "assholes
(and) just 50ish beerbelly losers".

(I'll just take that remark as from an un-informed kid.)

This so called loyal band of brothers is a farce.
One has been already shown never to have been on a Swift boat.
kerry paid off those guys. I know first hand.
He only sought out those that he knew could be "made a offer they could
not refuse"
at least one of those Swifties was against kerry until kerry sat them
down and made them a offer of $$$$$$ if he became president.
One of those Swifties was asked by another Swiftie I know why he joined
kerry. His answer was that kerry took them all on a vacation and made
them a offer.
Those traitors sold out their country for a few pieces of silver....
For monetary gain sold out their country and now stand beside someone
whose own boat crew met him at night and said to him "We refuse to ever
go on patrol with you again"
Next day kerry left country. Vietnam

US forces could have ended the Vietnam War in a day had they really wanted
to, and this was demonstrated by the bombing of Hanoi and Haiphong that
finally forced the North Vietnamese to negotiate a peace settlement. What
the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong clearly won was the propaganda war, and
because of that, America lost the war in Vietnam. Speaking of bravery, it's
awful easy to call a man a coward from the safety of your computer desk.
Americans are among the toughest soldiers in the world and nobody who has
ever fought them thinks anything less of them. To claim differently is
nonsense.

Excuse me, you pathetic simpleton? WWII was "over" in early August of 1945,
when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It started for
America on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. To
claim that the Americans didn't really experience WWII is absurd. We
participated in some of the bloodiest battles of the war, including D Day,
the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardenne, and the Allied invasion of Italy.
Without America's involvment in WWII, it would probably have been won by the
Germans and the Japanese. Not only were we intimately involved in several
of the major operations, but our participation was decisive. You are simply
a ridiculous little charlatan who doesn't know what the fuck you are talking
about.

It's spelled libel, and to qualify, written speech must be proven a lie. To
discuss the REAL WAR RECORD of John Kerry and publish it in a book is not
libel. I have yet to see Kerry prove that the serious allegations against
him are nothing but lies. Get the book and read it. While I do not agree
with every political opinion the Swift Boat Veterans strongly believed in,
the evidence against Kerry is well documented and quite damning.

Responding in kind to all the mudslinging from the left, which YOU
PERSONALLY have actively participated in for the last several years, is
hardly an act of desperation. You guys simply can't take your own medicine,
in fact, you can't take medicine that is very minor when compared to the

wife, and his family. You should be ashamed of yourself for daring to
suggest that Kerry can't take what supporters like you have been freely
handing out. It truly is pathetic.

Exactly what I say; when you refer to your heroic wars it is always your
bombing with a huge loss of civilians you are at your best. Fact is you were
kicked out of Vietnam, you were even kicked out of Somalia by men with
simple weapons and 100 times your bravery.

WWII started 1939 in Europe, no American was seen until 1942, not that it
matters. But to listen to the crap on how you rushed to save Europe with
huge losses makes me sick. Fact is you lost less than 400 000 soldiers
during the entire war, mostly in Asia, compared to Sovjet, who really saved
Europe, 9 000 000 soldiers. Even Germany, who always are cowards in
Hollywood movies, lost almost 1 800 000 soldiers.
The battle of Bulge, the only major American battle, was won because the
Germans run out of petrol.

A perfect example of how full of crap you are. The operation in Somalia was
a resounding success until Bill Clinton took office and turned command of US
forces over to the UN, the sweethearts Europussies love to admire. They are
the ones who sacrificed American lives. If you call the Somali's brave or
equipped with simple weapons, you don't understand much. They are a bunch
of heavily armed dope addicts who will rue the day they killed American
soldiers and drug their bodies through the streets of Mogadishu. If these
are the sorts of people you call "brave," then you're nothing but a stinking
Europussy cocksucker and a coward.

Absurd. You are no doubt unfamiliar with the term, "the arsenal of
democracy." American shipments to the British Isles kept that country
afloat during the Battle of Britain. Many Americans died shipping supplies
and materiel to England during that period while German U-boats did their
utmost to sink as many supply ships as they could.

European wars are European wars, NOT American wars. You arrogant
cocksuckers can never settle your own problems without dragging us and the

You seem to forget Stalin's "non-agression pact" with Germany prior to
Hitler's assault upon the Soviet Union. Stalin was as big a bastard as
Hitler. If you honestly believe that Russia "saved Europe," no doubt you
would have preferred the Russian bear overrunning the entire place after
Germany's defeat.

Even Germany, who always are cowards in

You don't see many movies, do you? I don't recall a single flick in which
Germans were portrayed as "cowards." In any case, what has Hollywood to do
with it? Who but a moron thinks the fantasy world created in Hollywood is
an accurate depiction of actual history?

Stupid nonsense. You are too stupid and uninformed for me to bother picking
up a book in order to refute. You seem to be forgetting D-day, ya dumb
asshole. And how about the liberation of Italy? And what of daylight
precision bombing over Germany, in which the Americans sustained heavy
losses doing what nobody else dared to do? You're just full of shit.
Further, American supply of both England and the USSR were crucial to the
Allied victory. As well, America's war against Japan kept that militarily
significant enemy completely tied up in the Central Pacific.

Speaking of bigmouths, you most certainly qualify. Such silly nonsense.
Patton was feared by all, including Rommel, and Montgomery (who kicked
Rommel out of North Africa) was extremely jealous of him.
