Post Office 'handed out bonuses for convictions' in Horizon
scandal as £75k deal sparks fresh battle with victims

. . .

"Horizon" was essentially a bit of accounting software.

Problem was - it wasn't much GOOD.

Righteous Elements used it to "prove" that over 800
postal officers were stealing lots of money. Made
them look good - and destroyed hundreds of lives.

NOW ... it's all come to light. Over a decade of
bullshit and wrongful convictions revealed. The
current govt has decided on a blanket pardon for
all accused/convicted/jailed plus "compensation"
which won't really cover it all.

A FEW seem so worried that ONE guilty person might
go free that they'd uphold the persecution of the
other 799 ..... what ASSHOLES ! Throw 'em OUT !

The UK kinda still has its "PROVE you're innocent"
system. This is often impossible - putting LOTS of
innocents in jail. Proving a negative - it's insane,
impractical, rarely possible. It's a vote for an
all-powerful State. There's a good REASON the USA
took the exact opposite track for ethical sanity.

Now you CAN find ethical insanity in the USA too ...
just very recently a NY law that just ASSUMED that
anyone with illegal weapons WAS intending to do
the world vast harm was overturned. Law is often
not REALLY Law or Reason or Truth - but Politics.
This must always be fought or things will go very
bad very quickly. The historical default seems to
be for autocracy/dictatorship/totalitarianism ...
and it's constant WORK to keep that at bay.
