* China Zigong Lantern Festival
The Lantern Festival is a popular traditional cultural activity of the
Chinese people. The people in Zigong, Sichuan Provice, had the custom
of holding lantern fair in the Spring Festival as early as the Tang
(618-907 AD) and the Song (960-1279) Dynasties. The Zigong lanterns
are well-known for their meticulous designs and ingenious execution.
They are highly appreciated for their harmony with the background,
showing visitors a stereoscopic beautiful picture. The lanterns are
considered exotic flowers in the Chinese garden of art, and they are
made in various patterns and designs; dragon, phoenix, peacock,
butterfly, golden fish, lotus as well as human figures. The material
for making lanterns are of great variety: bamboo, wood, silk,paper and
