Hi all,

My sweetheart just got her passport, and now we like to travel a bit.

We like to go to Singapore for a long weekend. Do Thai need special visa
for this, and/or other documents?

Thanks,

Yogi/Pas

Hi Yogi

Visa is not required.

However, when a Thai national arrives on a social visit pass for the first
time with a brand new passport, immigration may request for some sort of
assurance that you are indeed a bona fide visitor e.g. you have sufficient
money for the length of your stay, hotel reservations, return ticket. But
if your passport shows that you are a fairly well travelled person, they
will just let you through, no questions asked.

This is because many people have come under the pretext of touring the
country and then end up as illegal workers. Men in the construction sector
and women in illegal brothels.

Its not racist and it applies to people coming from some other countries
like Blangadesh. Tourists from China actually have only a 3 day pass and
their tour agents foot a $5000 deposit. Lots of deposits were confiscated
too.
